About Us

Deccan Cultural Society was established in August 15th, 1973 as a premier socio cultural organization in Bangalore. It started its functions as a library in a small rented room at New Guddadahalli, Mysore Road. Popularly known as DCS, Deccan Cultural Society cater it’s services to the malayalee population residing at Mysore Road area which include Guddadahalli, Byatarayanapura,Avalahalli, Vijayanagar, RPC Layout, Kengeri etc. During the last four decades DCS endeavored to enrich the social and cultural life of the area and to effectively project the art, culture and literature of Kerala to the malayalee population in Bangalore .

It aims at promoting national integration, social welfare, educational advancement, women’s empowerment and fostering a sense of fraternity among the people without any barrier of religion, caste, creed, politics or social status With the efforts of the dedicated and hardworking office bearers and committee members till date, DCS owns a Silver Jubilee Hall which is built in a 30 X 40 site at Byatarayanapura. This enhances the Society to conduct various meetings, taking rehearsals of the cultural programs and Dramas. DCS is having an excellent library with a collection of more than 3000 books consisting novels, short stories, poems, essays and dramas.

DCS is proud of its Women’s wing and the Arts wing which got more than 100 artists who performs various traditional dances and other cultural programs for our stages and other organization’s stages on invitation. It got self-sufficient team of Theatre activists and won several prizes in the Drama competitions held in Bangalore in the past.
